Good evening readers. Firstly, congratulations for making it to the end of the week!! You've done well. Give yourselves a pat on the back and then treat yourself to some cake, a cuppa and an early night.

I've had a pretty rubbish week unfortunately. Somehow - SOMEHOW - I managed to catch the flu. I don't know who I caught it from, or how I caught it because I had the vaccination for it a couple of months ago, but somehow I caught the flu. I woke up on Wednesday feeling like I'd been run over. It wasn't fun, and I ended up spending three full days in bed "resting up". Luckily, I didn't have uni this week due to it being exam/coursework month so I couldn't have caught it at a better time...

... other than today. Today I've lost my voice and it's part hilarious, part frustrating and part scary! And an absolute pain because I'm supposed to have a presentation tomorrow worth 40% of my scriptwriting unit. Let's just say, it's not going to happen tomorrow.

ANYWAY enough rambling and self-pitying. Due to my three days in bed and having very little work to do, I've been restless and bored this week. So I thought I'd give you some tips for what you can do if you ever find yourself in that situation too. I'll try my best to only suggest sensible things...

Here, ladies and gentleman, is Steph's list of What to do when you're bored or poorly:

1. Read a novel
I actually managed to read two books this week which I'm pretty proud of! I wanted to read 15 this year, so only 13 more to go and we're only 3 weeks into the year!! I read so, so much when I was poorly because I didn't know what else to do.

2. Bake a cake
If you can muster up the energy for this, it's worth doing. Why? Because you get to eat the cake!! If that's not a reason to bake, I don't know what is.

3. Search through every TV catch-up channel
I went on ITV Player, BBC iPlayer, 4OD, 5OD, you name it... I was just desperate for something to watch!! I was up-to-date on Coronation Street, Take Me Out and all the other pointless programmes that I watch. So I ended up watching Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents which cheered me up a bit!! You can tell I was resorting to desperate measures though!

4. Do some online shopping
I'm pretty sure I only bought one thing. I promise. But isn't this a great idea?! If you're bored or ill, some internet shopping is certainly going to perk you up a bit!!

5. Watch Friends or another series (I suggest Friends, though)
Joey, Phoebe, Chandler, Rachel, Monica and Ross will keep you entertained. I watched a couple of episodes and felt much, much better.

6. Sleep
I actually found it really difficult to sleep when I was poorly due to feeling so nauseous, but if you're bored or really unwell, naps are a fabulous idea. Actually, naps are always a fabulous idea.

7. Write
Write something. A letter to someone, a blog post, a long text?! Or start a journal. Write down how you feel, what you'll do when you feel better, or even something as small as a shopping list! But writing is therapeutic and will probably be quite enjoyable.

8. Clean and tidy
Maybe I shouldn't have included this because cleaning and tidying is rather boring in itself but at least if you do it when you're bored, you won't have to worry about doing it when you're busy and stressed out! Plus it feels very rewarding when you've finished!

9. Go for a walk
I didn't feel up to going for a walk because my whole body was aching! But a lot of the time, when you're unwell you feel a lot better when you go outside and get some fresh air, as my mum always says. If you're perfectly well but just bored, go for a walk whilst listening to music and take a few photos or videos- be artistic!

10. Plan something
Take this free time to do a bit of planning. Plan your birthday party, or birthday presents for friends and family, plan a holiday, a meal out with your friends, next week's activities, a trip to the cinema... just organise something fun that you can look forward to!

There you have it, my top ten things to do when you don't know what to do. Except now you've got these, you won't ever not know what to do!! You're welcome.

Hope you all have a great week and manage to avoid all the illnesses going around at the moment! Lots of love! x
