As most of you will know, I'm a university student and I don't have a full-time or even a part-time job. However what I am always doing is trying to make as much media content as I can and do as much work experience as possible to build up a portfolio, improve my skills and hopefully make myself known.

This summer I have been making wedding videos free of charge and I wanted to tell you all a little bit about why, despite it not being my "job" and not getting money from it, it's the best job in the world.

My life has been more wedding-oriented than the lives of the brides and grooms that I've been filming the weddings of! I've just done two back-to-back 10-hour days of filming, as well as the two weddings I've filmed before that, and one which I edited that was filmed by someone else a couple of years ago. Next week, I have another 3 consecutive weddings, and then two more to film after that...

... and then I have to edit them all.

Sounds a lot? Yep. I'm exhausted. After a full day of filming and running around trying to be in the right place at the right time to capture as much of the special day as possible on Friday, I felt like I couldn't face the same thing again yesterday. But the brilliant thing about filming weddings is that every day is so incredibly different and upon arrival, the buzz of the day hits me instantly. Before I know it, the day is over, because I'm taking one moment at a time, concentrating so much on capturing the little things and so wrapped up in the bride's excitement and the happiness of everyone there, that time flies and I enjoy every second.

Not only am I getting experience from doing this, but I'm gaining so much more than that. There are two other reasons why wedding videography is the best job in the world. Primarily because you get to share the happiness of the couple and the guests and then make them even happier by producing something for them which they can look back on forever (and hopefully make them cry, in a good way... I hope...) but also because I'm meeting people I wouldn't otherwise know. And all the couples whose wedding I've captured on film and the couples I have met whose weddings I'm yet to capture have been so incredibly lovely and unbelievably grateful. Giving them a wedding video is something they appreciate, but I'm the one feeling grateful because I'm given the opportunity to be a part of their day and to get to know such lovely, kind human beings.

I'm going to stop rambling now because time is precious and I have two wedding videos to edit today but I just wanted to reflect on how great this experience has been for me so far.

Hope you've had a great week one and all!
